We saw 82 817 visitors stream through the gates to visit and engage with the 746 exhibitors on show, enjoying the farm hospitality and exciting atmosphere on offer at the NAMPO showgrounds just outside Bothaville. This proves, once again, that there is still strong reason for hope and optimism among South African producers.

NAMPO is not only a local crowd that gathers each year. Foreign visitors and exhibitors extract great value from this platform as an opportunity to engage and reach out to South African farmers, as well as farmers across the African continent. Increased interest and foreign investment gives hope that there is still a bright future to explore.

Representatives from Israel, Poland, England, America, India, France, Italy, Denmark, China, Turkey and Russia were among the participants in this year’s Harvest Day.

AFRIT, celebrating 50 years of innovation, showcased 8 of its finest trailer models at this year’s event. A High Volume T6 Tautliner, with its easily-adjustable double-stacking system, was displayed to showcase its lightweight stacking solution for multiple loads, offering optimal volumetric loading capabilities. While the newly upgraded ET8 End Tipper also had rock-and-sand shifters excited about its latest functional design improvements. Also on exhibit, the specialized SD8 Stepdeck trailer showed-off its very noticeable upgrades; such as a lower deck height for a better loading approach angle, wider ramps with improved grip for ease off loading and improved load securing options – to name a few.

Major news for future attendees has emerged, with NAMPO deciding to expand its footprint to the Western Cape! This diverse and dynamic agricultural family can now look forward to NAMPO Cape, which will be presented in collaboration with Grain SA at Bredasdorp in the Western Cape from 12 to 14 September 2018. This trade and stock expo is to become a base and anchor point for the latest agricultural information, market place news, networking opportunities and a gathering place for everyone in the region with an interest in agriculture. More information on NAMPO Cape is available via the www.nampo.co.za website.

Next year’s NAMPO Harvest Day has already been scheduled for 14 to 17 May 2019 at NAMPO Park, Bothaville. Visit www.grainsa.co.za or www.nampo.co.za for more information.
